General IBC Questions

What does IBC stand for?
IBC stands for Intermediate Bulk Container. It's a reusable industrial container designed for the transport and storage of bulk liquids, pastes, and granulated substances. The most common type is a rigid composite IBC consisting of an HDPE plastic bottle inside a galvanized steel cage on a pallet base.
What are IBC totes made of?
Standard IBC totes consist of three components: (1) an inner bottle made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic, (2) an outer cage frame made from welded galvanized steel tubing and wire, and (3) a pallet base made from wood, steel, or composite material.
How long do IBC totes last?
With proper care, the steel cage can last 10-20 years or more. The HDPE bottle typically has a usable life of 5-7 years before UV exposure and normal wear affect its integrity. In reconditioning, the bottle is replaced while the cage is reused, extending the overall container life significantly.
Are IBC totes stackable?
Yes, most IBC totes are rated for stacking up to 2 units high when full. Always check the specific stacking rating stamped on your container. Never stack damaged totes, and ensure the stacking surfaces are level and stable.
What can you store in an IBC tote?
IBC totes can store a wide range of liquids and granulated materials including water, chemicals, food products, oils, fuels, detergents, agricultural products, and more. Always verify HDPE compatibility with your specific substance. Some materials (strong oxidizers, certain solvents) are not compatible with HDPE.

Buying & Pricing

How much does a used IBC tote cost?
Pricing varies based on grade, size, and quantity. Used IBC totes typically range from $75-$200 depending on condition. Reconditioned units with new bottles range from $150-$300. New IBC tanks start around $300-$500. Contact us for current pricing — we offer competitive rates especially on volume orders.
Do you offer bulk discounts?
Yes! Volume discounts are available starting at 10 units. The per-unit price decreases as quantity increases. For large orders (100+ units), we can offer significant savings. Contact us with your quantity needs for a custom quote.
Can I buy just one IBC tote?
Absolutely. We sell single units all the way up to truckloads. No minimum order requirements.
Do you deliver?
Yes, we provide delivery across Oklahoma and neighboring states including Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. Delivery costs depend on distance and quantity. Local Oklahoma City metro deliveries are very affordable.

Selling & Recycling

Will you buy my used IBC tanks?
Yes! We purchase used IBC totes in any condition — from lightly used to heavily worn. Contact us with details about your containers (quantity, condition, location) and we'll provide a competitive offer. We handle all pickup logistics.
What do you do with tanks you buy?
Tanks in good condition are cleaned, graded, and resold. Tanks that need significant work are reconditioned (rebottled). End-of-life tanks are fully recycled — HDPE is granulated, steel is smelted, and pallets are repurposed. Our material recovery rate exceeds 95%.
Is there a minimum quantity to sell?
No minimum, but we can offer better per-unit pricing and free pickup for larger quantities (typically 10+ units). Single-unit pickups may include a small pickup fee depending on location.
Do you provide recycling certificates?
Yes. For businesses that need documentation for compliance or ESG reporting, we provide certificates of recycling detailing the quantity processed, materials recovered, and proper handling confirmation.

Cleaning & Reconditioning

Can you clean my IBC totes?
Yes, we offer professional cleaning services at three tiers: Basic Wash, Deep Clean, and Full Reconditioning. We can process your tanks at our facility in Edmond, OK. Contact us for pricing and scheduling.
Do you offer food-grade cleaning?
Yes. Our Deep Clean and Full Reconditioning tiers can achieve food-grade cleanliness standards suitable for FDA-regulated applications. We use approved cleaning agents and follow documented sanitization protocols.
What is rebottling?
Rebottling (reconditioning) is the process of replacing the used HDPE inner bottle with a brand-new one while reusing the existing steel cage and pallet. This is the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to get a "like new" IBC tote.

Logistics & Operations

How many IBC totes fit on a truck?
A standard 53-foot flatbed or dry van can carry approximately 48 empty IBC totes (stacked 2 high, 24 on the floor). Full/loaded IBC totes typically ship 18-20 per truck depending on weight restrictions.
Can IBC totes be used outdoors?
Yes, but prolonged UV exposure degrades the HDPE bottle over time (typically 2-3 years in direct sun). We recommend UV-protective covers or opaque blankets for outdoor installations. The steel cage and galvanized coating handle outdoor conditions well.
How do I connect a hose to an IBC tote?
Standard IBC totes have a 2" NPT threaded valve outlet. You can attach garden hose adapters, camlock fittings, or any NPT-compatible connector. We sell a full range of adapters and fittings in our accessories catalog.
